Kanye West to present debut collection at Paris Fashion Week

Photobucket

It has been confirmed that Kanye West is set to unveil his first womenswear collection during Paris fashion week.

Contrary to reports of a private showing, Kanye’s S/S 2012 collection has a spot in the event’s official schedule, kicking off at 9:30pm on October 1st – yep, that’s right after Jean Paul Gaultier. No pressure, right?

Although the finer details are being kept under wraps, what we do know is that the collection is a collaboration between Yeezy, knit-wear designer Louise Goldin and creative consultant Christine Centenera of Australian Harper’s Bazaar.

Now, how can we get our hands on an invite?

Jordan Askill nominated for British Fashion Award

Australian jewellery designer Jordan Askill has been announced as a finalist for the Emerging Talent Award at the 2011 British Fashion Awards.

The award was established to recognize and reward innovative and directional accessory design in the fashion industry.

Having worked for the likes of Dior Homme and Ksubi before turning his hand to fine jewellery, Askill marries elements of antique design and with modern flare and wearability. We’re all familiar with the rose gold heart ring, right? Right.

Askill shares his nomination with British model turned shoe designer Tabitha Simmons and famed milliner Nasir Mazhar.

The British Fashion Awards are scheduled to take place in London later this year.

Sending our love to London, Jordan!

Marc Jacobs in final talks with Christian Dior

After months of speculation as to who would take the helm at Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs is said to be in final negotiations with the fashion house.

Jacobs and his business partner, Robert Duffy, are reportedly asking a salary in excess of $10 million, plus “benefits”, WWD reported.

If the deal goes ahead, Jacobs would retire from his current position as creative director at Louis Vuitton and take the reigns at Christian Dior.

The new role would require a heavy workload of two couture and four ready-to-wear collections, plus his own eponymous labels Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

John Galliano was relieved of his duties with Dior earlier this year after he was accused of making anti-Semitic and racial slurs.

Speculation about whom Dior would hire to replace Galliano has been mounting for months, with other names including Jason Wu, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte and former Hermes creative director, Jean Paul Gaultier.

Azzedina Alaia was also offered the coveted position, and although “flattered”, publically declined the opportunity to “be part of [Dior’s] next chapter.”

Stay tuned for updates.
